Lake Garda is an ideal destination all year round and has a milder climate than many surrounding areas. Spring is pleasant with cool and bright days but you can expect some warmer days with temperatures usually ranging from 13c early on up to 21c later in May. Be prepared for rain on occasion as March & April usually have the most rainfall.

Summer in Lake Garda is glorious and is perfect for sunbathing and lake swimming. With average temperatures ranging from 25c to 30c, the area is also perfect for walking, cycling and lots of summer water sports. The winds are a constant in the north of the lake which is one of the top wind- and kite- surfing spots in the world.

Autumn, like many places in Italy, is filled with autumn colours and low sun on the forests and mountains surrounding the lake. The temperatures, although cooler than the summer months, are pleasant and range between 15c and 20c but pack a jumper for the evenings. September and October are excellent times to visit Lake Garda with smaller crowds and less traffic. It’s the perfect chance to visit the vineyards and experience “la vendemmia”, the first grape harvest of the season as well as the local olive harvest.

Winter sees colder temperatures and although snow isn’t common near the lake, the towering mountains often see a blanket of white for the whole season. With cool but bright days, head to nearby Verona to experience winter markets or head a little further north and hit the slopes in some of Italy’s best ski resorts.
